New and Innovative Steel Barrier System From COLAS
COLAS responded to industry demand on Thursday by launching their new road safety barrier system at Traffex Live.
Already tried and tested within the International COLAS Group, the system received a great response from visitors and is a uniquely designed alternative to traditional barrier products.
The new SMS+ barrier system has been designed to allow for the barriers to be easily transported and installed. Site occupation, manual handling and the need for road workers to be on the carriageway has been minimised and this dramatically improves safer working conditions.
Ryan Wood – Technical Manager said: “The first public promotion of the COLAS SMS+ barrier system at Traffex Live, received some very encouraging feedback and the exposure made it clear that COLAS had now officially entered the market.”
Wood commented: “The new design is innovative in that the installation and removal is a lot quicker than conventional barriers. We design, build and install the complete system, which I believe gives our customers peace of mind. The product was an obvious choice to complement our existing traffic management portfolio and is Highways Agency approved, CE marked with a track record of proven performance across Europe.”
The barrier system can be a temporary or permanent installation and customised to individual requirements. COLAS also offer flexible options for procurement.

Industry response was that it was a positive solution and that it provides more resilience to achieve delivery of major investments. COLAS developed the solution to meet UK requirements.
